Above are some researched images I found for inspiration. We discussed in class that we should mix metal with flesh for the alien form. I researched on the human anatomy of the muscles in the body and used it as reference for my concept art.
The muscle form made the alien look very powerful and strong, almost superior. It also looked slightly human. I thought the texture should be slimy which is a common feature on a fantasy character.
I liked the one above because its very detailed. Maybe a different shade and it would look quite good on the Alien.
I love the scaly, greasy effect of the skin above it looks slightly horrifying which would add to the horror outcome of the design for the alien.
I absolutely love the one above it looks very slimy to touch and almost like human insides (guts) it would be a very good effect on the skin.
My final drawing is just a rough sketch of what I wanted it to look like..
As you can see I was largely influenced by the creators of alien. The back of their head hangs off the back of their face. I created his mask on photoshop which is removable.
For the Spaceship I was largely influenced by the images below. the smoothness of the metal really made a change from the obvious harsh edges and lines in a spaceship.
I love both these images and I can say they helped me with the design of the spaceship which is below. (pencil)
I was also assigned to model some buildings. I did some very basic ones I added some of them to a matte painting and created my own scene just to play around (below) its a bit dark but I tried to create the image of seeing the earth from another planet. It was my first matte painting and I think it went ok.
Building – below is just a very modern building I modelled.
My next task is to composite the animation, matte paintings, lense flare, music. So basically put everything together.
